The Royal Palace of Amsterdam rests on 13,659 wooden piles. It was built in the 17th century as the city's town hall.

Nationaal Monument op de Dam (National Monument on Dam Square). A national Remembrance of the Dead ceremony is held at the monument every year. It is situated opposite to the Royal Palace. Dam Square is the historic centre of Amsterdam.

Amsterdam Euronext. The Beurs van Berlage (The former building of the Stock Exchange) is to the left but it was being renovated when I visited.
